The use of voice assistants in the US is thought to be reaching its critical mass, as projected by the research firm eMarketer. This means that the growth might slow down – but it’s nowhere near stopping.
According to research, the most used device for voice assistants are still smartphones. eMarketer anticipated that 97.9 million out of the total 111 million US users would use voice-activated technology on their phones at least once a month in 2019. Smart speakers – though still less popular than smartphones – are steadily growing in popularity, which is expected to continue in the coming years.
What will be interesting to see is if – and when – the ratio will change in favour of smart speakers that are now used by 77 million users in the US, with a visibly upward trend.
